A Letter To our Blue Vine Friends,
Loyal Customers, Musicians and Fans

It is with a heavy heart that I have had to close our doors at The Blue Vine.
I have loved serving this community for the past 7 ½1/2 years. It’s been a great run!
I have made so many friends, had so many wonderful times
and my heart is so very full of the great memories we’ve made here.

Losing my husband Chris was hard.
Salisbury stepped up and helped keep the business running
while he was hospitalized those 30 days and after he passed away.
You wrapped your arms about us and hugged tight.
You gave of your time, your love and even your money to keep us going
through the worst time of our lives. I have not, nor ever will I forget what this
wonderful town did for us. I am so very thankful for you all.

Not only did I lose my husband, my best friend and soul mate,
I lost my business partner and all he brought to the business.
This past year has been a hard one. I have struggled to forge ahead and continue running this
wonderful business alone. Chris’ loss, on top of this struggling economy
has made it difficult to reinvent the business without him.
Long hours, scant financial resources and health concerns have forced me to accept
that I just cannot continue on as I have been.
Sometimes you come to a fork in the road and you have to make a decision.
This past year has been about remembering Chris and honoring this amazing place that we
created together. Now, I have to think about me and what is best for me.
I just cannot do this anymore.
Therefore, I have decided to bring this chapter of my life to a close.
I have no idea where to go from here, but I am hopeful and looking forward.

I think The Blue Vine has filled a wonderful niche in this community.
Chris and I loved making wine accessible to all and stripping the intimidation factor away
showing folks that wine can be enjoyed with anything one can cook at home -
from baked spaghetti to prime rib and everything in between –
that the ONLY important thing to remember about wine is what you like.
We loved helping make your special events memorable
with great food, wine and impeccable service.
We loved feeding you and took pride in providing good food
at an affordable price served up with a smile!
We were honored to provide Salisbury with a first class music listening room
where we brought in talented musicians from all over the country, as well as locally,
to grace our stage with their artistry.

Mostly, we loved being a place that folks thought of as their ‘third place’ –
that place besides home or work where one belongs, where folks know your name
and care about you as a friend, not just a customer.
Our bar was our proverbial kitchen table around which you all gathered
week after week sharing your lives with us.
We laughed with you, sang with you, cried and grieved with you,
rejoiced with you and heartily enjoyed your company.
I thank you all for the privilege of serving you.
I will miss being here with you in this place.

We miss you Chris!
The food will never be as tasty as yours.
The music will never be as lively and fun as with you.
The conversation will never be nearly as interesting.
