!!!St. Paddy's Party!!!
~Live Celtic Duo ~
Thistledown Tinkers

Our favorite Celtic Duo is back just in time to help us celebrate St. Paddy's Day!!!!
This powerful NC duo featuring Trip Rogers and Tom Eure, are on a mission...To make Celtic music that forces
folks to stand up and take notice. This is not the fragile, romanticized Celtic music you hear in movie soundtracks,
but the kind that makes you sing along and stomp your fee
t. They weave traditional Scottish and Irish music with
original creations while adding a southern swagger that sets the stage on fire.
With an impressive arsenal of
instruments including guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, dulcimer and concertina, musicianship is at the core of
Thistledown Tinkers.
Salisbury, you're in for a performance with guts, showmanship and the attitude of an arena rock band!
(not to mention the kilts!)
You won't want to miss this!

~Live Acoustic Folk/Jazz Music~
Rupert Wates

"To describe Rupert Wates as a singer/songwriter does not do him justice. You feel, not just hear his music and his
lyrics. He is an experience." (Eileen Batson, North Carolina Songwriters Co-Operative)
London born,
Rupert Wates has been a full time songwriter since 1992 when he signed an exclusive deal with Eaton
Music Publishing.  He has written songs in all kinds of styles for all kinds of artists.  During the Nineties he worked
with Jazz singer Liz Fletcher, recording the albums MELLOWMANIA and LIVE IN THE PARK, both released on the
Sanctuary label, and BLUE AFTERNOONS on Mainstem.
Moving to Paris in 2001, he developed his skills as a singer and performer and formed his own group.  In 2005 he
recorded the album SWEET OR BITTER WINE, his first as a solo artist.
The album was released on the Mainstem label in autumn 2005.
Since September 2006, Rupert has been based in the USA. His music has found a warm reception in America.
Strong melodies, memorable lyrics, nuanced and real emotion - these are the hallmarks of Rupert Wates' music.
Through 2008 and 2009, Rupert has pursued an extensive schedule of live work, averaging over 120 gigs a year,
sometime solo, sometimes with his regular quartet. A summer tour in 2008 took in thirty cities in fifteen states from
New York to California. In 2009, tour destinations have included Nashville, Memphis, St Louis, Cincinnati, Chicago,
Philadelphia, major cities all along the eastern seaboard, and of course Wates' home base, New York City. In
August, Wates returned to the UK for the first time in three years to play four shows at the Acoustic Music Centre,
Edinburgh, as part of the International Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Meanwhile, Wates' albums 'Coast To Coast' (2007) and 'Dear Life' (2008) have gained outstanding reviews and
both continue to be aired on collage and mainstream radio all over the world.  As of fall 2009, plans are being
solidified for the recording of a new album, 'Joe's Cafe', in Brooklyn, New York.  The album is to comprise songs
based on true stories, retelling the experience of ordinary American people from the dust bowl to the present day.
Come on out and unwind to the music of Rupert Wates!
We guarantee you a remarkable evening of music!

~Alternative Folk Rock Duo~
Bethel Steele & Sierra Rocks

We're excited to introduce this Alternative Folk Duo all the way from Boston!
Touring together down the east coast, Bethel Steels and Sierra Rocks are wowing audiences all over!
*********
A gifted singer-songwriter,
Bethel Steele has been writing music since the age of 14, continuing through high school,
college and a short post-collegiate career in the sciences. When Steele moved to a small town out side of
Poughkeepsie, New York the music that had been written and played behind closed doors finally showed it's face to
a listening audience.
After a few months of playing in the area, Bethel recorded an 8-song EP, the result was "Beautiful Woman." "It was
literally the result of an ultimatum," says Bethel about the 2006 release. "One of the bartenders where I played
most often told me that he wouldn't let me perform again if I didn't have something to sell. So I recorded 'Beautiful
Woman,' burnt some copies of it, used a picture of a sunset that I had taken a few weeks earlier and 'released' the
CD the next time I played at that bar."
Steele released the first full-length CD, "Come Home" at the end of June 2009. This effort is the result of more than
a year of being in and out of the studio, bringing a range of musicians and different sounds to the soulful lyrics and
driving rhythmic guitar that has become a trademark of Bethel's music. The album has tastes of a country
upbringing, dashes of pop and rock, but is nailed in the folk genre. "'Come Home' is a reflection on my moving to
Boston," Steele reveals, "I was torn between wanting to be out in the country with the open fields and wanting to
have a community to be a part of, both musically and otherwise."
Bethel has been showcased as a solo artist and as an opening act for nationally- and regionally-touring artists and
has been busking throughout the Boston subway system. Steele is also a member of the group JP Unplugged (www.
jpunplugged.org) that hosts an acoustic music series in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.

**************
Sierra
grew up in the rural Connecticut town of Thomaston, nurtured by the music of James Taylor, the sounds of
the natural world, and the gift of an acoustic guitar from her father.  Her brother, also a musician, inspired her both
in life as a performer and with his death, when he was violently killed by a drunk driver in 1996. For Sierra, playing
music is a way of cradling the memory of her brother and a way of connecting with her deepest emotions. Even in
the shadows of her darkest topics, there lurks a glimmer of pure optimism and faith in the ability of regular people
to reinvent themselves.
Sierra’s beauty shows in the careful way she touches her guitar strings, like a spider perfecting her web.  There is a
sensuous grace with which she sings, that mesmerizes listeners and creates a hushed calm.  It is no wonder that
the likes of Catie Curtis, Rachael Davis, and Natalia Zukerman blessed Sierra’s new record with their talents.
Sierra has performed throughout New England and up and down the West Coast.
