She’s damn good.” Sting’s summation of his duet with singer songwriter Diane Durrett speaks for anyone who’s ever heard her perform. A Memphis reporter once wrote that Diane’s performance was so powerful that “If you don’t go see her she may just come see you!” With a blend of raw soulful vocals, sultry tones and strong original songs Durrett has sung with Sting, The Indigo Girls, Gregg Allman, Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones) and Peter Stroud (Sheryl Crow) and has opened shows for Tina Turner, Faith Hill, Little Feat, Delbert McClinton and Derek Trucks. In 2010 she was chosen by Grammy award winning producer Brendan O’Brien to record supporting vocals on Faith Hill’s upcoming single. Diane spent five years earning her education on Nashville’s Music Row. Her co-writers include Bonnie Bramlett (Superstar), Jerry Ragovoy (Piece of My Heart) , Jimbeau Hinson (Party Crowd) , and Georgia Music Hall of Famer William Bell (Born Under A Bad Sign). She has received accolades in Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany for her song “Take Me As I Am,” which is featured on the soundtrack of the film “Ready, Willing, and Able”. In 2004 the American Cancer Society selected Diane’s acclaimed song from “CHILL”, Whatever Makes Your Soul Sing co-written with Jayne Olderman, as the theme of a nationally distributed DVD. In 2005 “What if Everybody Wins” was selected for the soundtrack for the film “The Unseen” which will be released in 2006. Durrett was once quoted as saying, “I want to write songs that reach across generations and bring people together.” With “Rbythm of Life and CHILL,” her legacy will always live on. Durrett is a down-to-earth-diva. She sings from her soul, writes with heart & humor. Diane brings her southern wit and charm to every event. She's pure entertainment! 9PM - 11:30PM No Cover www.myspace.com/dianedurrett September 3, 2010 ~Live "Acoustic Americana Duo~ Rod Picott & Amanda Shires We are absolutley thrilled to welcome this talented Nashville Duo back to our stage! These two played to a full house last fall and we LOVE them! A Texas fiddler and a Yankee singer-songwriter might seem an unlikely pairing but the natural chemistry between Amanda Shires and Rod Picott is undeniable. Rising from the sun-driven plains of West Texas is fiddler/songwriter Amanda Shires and from the northerns mill towns of New England is Rod Picott. At 16, Amanda was playing fiddle with the Texas Playboys, an auspicious start that testifies to her natural talent and soulful delivery. From there Shires went on to be one of the founding member's of Lubbock's Thrift Store Cowboys, releasing 4 albums independently and reaching top ten status on many CMJ charts around the country. As an in demand side player, she has worked with Texas legends Billy Shaver and Gary P. Nunn as well as Folk/Bluegrass favorties The Rowen Brothers, Whit Smith's Hot Jazz Caravan, and one of Indie Rock's hottest acts, Devotchka. Now 25, Amanda Shires stands in front of an already impressive body of work including her newest release "West Cross Timbers", and on the edge of a career in full bloom. In 1994 Rod Picott moved to Nashville, TN where he established himself as one of the better new writers in town as well as opening shows for Allison Krauss and Union Station and Gillian Welch. His 2002 album "Straydogs" featured a guest appearance from Allison Krauss. Picott has had a string of successful albums including his 2007 release "Summerbirds". Amanda and Rod met at the Folk Alliance Conference in Austin, TX in 2006. Over the following 2 years, they toured throughout the US and Europe playing more than 150 shows together. In the winter of 2008, they began co-writing and recording their debut duo project and are currently touring in support of that release "Sew Your Heart with Wires". The album is completely acoustic featuring only their two voices, Picott's guitar and Shires' fiddle and ukulele. Don't miss this opportunity to catch this dynamic Americana Duo while in Salisbury! 9PM - Midnight NO COVER! www.myspace.com/rodpicottandamandashires October 8, 2010 ~Live Contemporary Jazz Band~ The Brubakers They're BAAACK!!! Miller has plenty of accolades in the world of songwriting: top finalist in the 2007 Great American Song Contest, a recent invitation to play at New York City's renowned folk club, The Bitter End, and even fan mail from Lucinda Williams herself. But to Valorie, the hallmark of personal success is the intensity with which her fans become attached to her songs. One fan recently had his favorite of her songs played at his mother's memorial service. Another sustained a life threatening injury while hiking in the wilderness alone, and later wrote her to say that playing her songs over and over in his head gave him the strength to get himself out alive. To her fans, Miller's songs are more than entertainment, they are vitally important touchstones. This phenomenon inspires her to keep touring, writing and recording. Her current release, Autumn Eyes, masterfully delivers her newest material with the trademarks that everyone who loves her music has come to expect: beautiful guitar picking, a genuine and singular voice, and heart-wrenching lyrics. This woman is a songwriter's songwriter, and she inhabits the Americana music scene like a true native. www.valoriemiller.com ********** We are pleased to welcome Rupert Wates back to our stage! "To describe Rupert Wates as a singer/songwriter does not do him justice. You feel, not just hear his music and his lyrics. He is an experience." He has written songs in all kinds of styles for all kinds of artists. Moving to Paris in 2001, he developed his skills as a singer and performer and formed his own group. In 2005 he recorded the album SWEET OR BITTER WINE, his first as a solo artist. Since September 2006, Rupert has been based in the USA. He has recorded three CDs since coming to the States, 'Coast To Coast', 'Dear Life', and now in 2010 his most exciting project to date: 'Joe's Cafe'. His music has found a warm reception in America.
